Landscaping Equipment for municipal operations is a significant contributor to operational GHG emissions, noise, and other pollutants. Battery-electric landscaping equipment, such as leaf blowers, pole saws, or riding mowers, can provide significant benefits to workers and communities such as savings on fuel, reduced air pollution, and reduced noise.
CEC Grant funds can be used to purchase battery electric lawn equipment that replaces gasoline-powered equipment. The following equipment types can be purchased using CEC grant funds:
Leaf Blowers/Vacuums (2-Cycle)
Leaf Blowers/Vacuums (4-Cycle)
Trimmers/Edgers/Cutters (2-Cycle)
Trimmers/Edgers/Cutters (4-Cycle)
Riding Mowers (4 Stroke)
Push Mower
Pressure Washers
Chainsaw
Pole Saws
In order to use CEC Funds for Electric Lawn Equipment:
The landscaping equipment must be new plug-in or battery electric equipment to replace gas-powered equipment.
Equipment must be purchased and owned by the municipality, not leased.
Equipment shall be fully operational to receive final grant payment.
The equipment shall be in continuous use by the municipality for a period of at least four (4) years.
Electric Lawn Equipment can also be counted towards the Electric Lawn Equipment High Impact Action Item.
How to Get Started
Interested municipalities should prepare quotes and/or estimates for qualifying equipment.
